    Dear Kitson,
    I congratulate you on the acquisition & on, at last, learning to buy properly! I am not a bit surprised at the price. <£4.4 or 4½ g[uinea]s> It was not the tempting morsel for the dealers, not what they understand etc. etc.
    But I am not going to take advantage of your very kind suggestion (assuming that you could have made it to me) If you had only seen the drawing through me, yes, I should have accepted it. But you would have seen it anyhow & your price was higher than mine. Therefore I recede.
    I am, you see, not so angry with you for crediting my letter to Duke as with
