Account of visiting Mrs Horace Porter

Oct 18 - 1928 - Called in on Mrs Horace Porter. The watercolour drawing Mrs Kitson Clark thought might be a Cotman is a very pleasant linear landscape. Not Cotman - Possibly Bright.
Mrs Porter has an oil sketch of a boy standing in a wooded landscape, in the manner of Gainsborough. This was in the Samuel Angell Collection & may be by J.S.C.

F. W. Porter was her father-in-law, he drew Peruzzi palaces in Italy for Holford of Dorchester House.

* Mrs P has a sepia very good of "Church of St. Gervais in the faubourg of Pont St Audemain [Rouen] "J.S. Cotman - July 18, 1818-"

Tuesday Oct: 30 Sir Montague Pollock called & saw the Cotman drawings. He had spent his holiday with Wilson Steer, at the inn at Framlingham; & described W. S's methods of working.
