    NORWICH AND MR. MUNNINGS, R.A.
    By FRANK RUTTER
Norwich is a city exceptionally rich in its artistic associations, and it has always shown itself alive to the fact that these associations are a valuable asset which, properly handled, increase the city's well-being in wealth and prestige. Unlike Plymouth, which unaccountably allowed the bicentenary of her great son, Sir Joshua Reynolds, to pass unhonoured and unsung, Norwich has lost no opportunity of celebrating the fame of Crome and Cotman. Notable exhibitions of these masters have already been held in the Castle Museum, as well as exhibitions revealing the merits of less known painters of the Norwich School.
But the associations of Norwich with art are not limited to the past ; a living painter of great distinction, Mr. A.J. Munnings, R.A., is identified with the county by birth, and accordingly it is quite in accordance with the city's traditions that the greatest Munnings [exhibition] yet held should have been opened [illegible] in the Castle Museum, Norwich.
