    April 24 1928. Visited V. & A. Museum: S. Kensington. There are 2 portfolios of original drawings for the 'Sepulchral Brasses': in pencil, tinted & pale yellow, with the heraldry coloured in its heraldic tinctures.
    Portfolio 1 (Norfolk) contains 50 drawings of brasses, (the published volume includes 119 brasses & 1 etching of part of the interior of Wickmere Church - 'Sir Simon Fellbrigge & his lady Margaret' very good - also 'a brass for Sir Hugh de Hastings' at Elsing Church, Norfolk (black & white decoration) also Thomas Heveningham & wife at Ketteringham Church
    Portfolio 2 has 34 drawings, on Whatman paper in pencil; the brasses tinted pale yellow, & the shields tinted with their proper heraldic colours. The figures are squared by ¼" to ⅜" squares, which are numbered. Some of them are dated i.e. with the dates of proving eg
    (1) Humphrey Brewster 'April 8th 1816'
    (2) A brass (female) in Stoke Church 'April 15. 1816'
    (3) A brass (male) in Stoke Church 'Proved March 25 1816'
    (4) A brass at Easton Church 'April 15'
    (5) Robert de Buers. Acton Church 'April 24. 1816'
    (6) Thomas Players (sic) Sottery (sic) Church 'May 3 186 (sic) proved'
    (7) John Shorland Woodbridge 'May 3 1816'
    (8) Knapp family. St Peters - Ipswich 'April 8 1816'

    There are 3 drawings which were not published - viz
    (1) John Chapman - Sibton
    (2) [illegible 1 word]
    (3) Isabella Cheyne - Blickling

    There are also 2 [illegible 1 word] cases of Cotman drawings.
    D 1909 - '86 'Ecclesiastical ruins. remains of an Abbey' (Fountains Abbey) see Dicke's Norwich School p 396 'in 1839 he sent to the Norwich Exhibition 'Fountains Abbey, Yorks' ('A Specimen of his School Drawing copies') 17¼ x 12 black & white chalk on grey paper. large fine drawing. somewhat [illegible 1 word] . bought from R. Jackson for 15/-
