I also have added to the number of early Cotmans - a larger version apparently of the Carnarvon whhich was lent by Bulwer to the Norwich show in 1888. Mine is the earlier version, because the trees are printed over the background. But as has happened before when I have had a particularly big stroke of picture luck, this forcluded disaster. My boy fell ill just before he & I were going abroad & he is still ill & will have to be quiet & careful at any rate till next term. My wife is with him in the country & I shall be alone except for my holiday all the summer. I should be all the more glad if I might come to you for a weekend as you so kindly suggest, only regretting that my wife can't come too. For this month I shall have no weekends free, but in June I should very much like to come if any weekend should suit you.
    Yours very sincerely
    Paul Oppé
