Sept: 26, 1936. Lunched with Mrs Woodward (a daughter of Dawson Turner, Jun[io]r) at her house, Lauriston, Malvern Link. She has a drawing, paste medium, c. 1830-2, "The Harbour of Honfleur", 12 1/2 x 18 3/4, formerly belonged to D. Turner. In excellent condition.
Her sister has another version of Mt St Michel, c. 1824 as the high lights at the base of the rock are scraped out with a razor. As Mrs W had the 'Normandy Etchings', it was possible to measure accurately the difference of size of buildings & group in etching & drawing. The drawing was slightly larger, as 21 is to 20. Size, 12 x 21.
Mrs W. told me that her aunt, Mary Anne Turner, wanted to accept the proposal of J. W. Binyon (1813-1888) afterwards Dean of Chichester, but felt she sh[oul]d not leave her father.
    D. N. B. says, "with the financial aid of his friend D. T., he went up to Oxford in 1841, aet. 28". He was 10 years younger than M. A. T.
