    My dear Sydney,
We were more impressed by the Cathedral than by anything else at Norwich.
The first object which confronted us on entering the Picture Gallery at the Castle was P.M.T[urner]. However he had not been sent for by Cotman to protect him against us & he left very soon for Felixstowe, not however without receiving compliments on his gifts to the Museum, including the duddest of Cromes ex Heseltine. The amiable Leney[?] was with us throughout & came with us to Crown Point; as you can imagine he curtailed our already short time, but it was partly our own fault & he showed us some pleasant bits of Norwich.
We were much impressed by the Cotman-Crome row of oils at the Museum, and decided to ask for the Boulevard but to leave Cotman till we had seen Crown Point. We placed the mishap first. Of the drawings St Luke's Chapel wasn't there: the Allen sepia looked very well but nothing tempted.
We reached Crown Point at 3 nearly 1/2 hour late & I suppose that Colman halted for tea about 4.30.
