Dear Mr Kitson,
Herewith I am sending you the Cotman drawing for your inspection. I, personally ,don't think there is any doubt about it, but you are the authority, and if you do not consider it is by him I wonder who else was capable of it.
Yours very truly,
The Fine Art Society Ld.

Dear Mr Dawbarn,
I did not see the monochrome you have kindly sent me when it came up for sale at Christie's on the 24th ult (lot 64), but it was reported to me that the drawing had "nothing to do with Cotman". On seeing it I have no reason to quarrel with my corespondent's opinion. I return it herewith.
Yours very truly,
Sydney D Kitson
