Dear Sydney,
I had rather finished reading this yesterday & I have spent most of the day to the detriment of my official work in putting my notes into some sort of order so that I c[oul]d post the [manuscript] to you this evening. They are a hell of a lot! But you must have expected something of the kind or you wouldn't have sent me a bundle, thank you, of such excellent paper!
I've treated your book as so good & containing such excellent stuff that I have queried everything which seems to me to distract from it as the authoritative work on Cotman. I hope that you wont mind being asked to pull up & verify! You know that
