    on very delicate ground but I know you will respect the confidence with which I convey this information.
    You will perhaps pardon the suggestion, but I should like to ask with deference whether it is possible that either or both of these pictures will ever return to the City which, in my humble opinion, they rightly belong?
    I sincerely hope that the information which I have given may be of value for although I am only surmising I believe that Cotman did visit the Smyths when staying with the Fairfax-Cholmeleys.
