You may be interested to know that our friend, Capt: Barton, who owned our drawing before us, had it from an Aunt of his, who had it for her forebear Bernard Barton, the Quaker poet of Norfolk, who had it (I think) direct from Cotman himself. I have known & loved the picture for many years, & we always meant to get it when poor Frank Barton had to part with it.
We shall await the publication of yur book with great interest.
