J.S. COTMAN'S YARMOUTH HOME,- Modern expert opinion, and incidentally, sale room prices for his genuine work, have now established Cotman as one of the most distinguished of English artists. He was not a Yarmouth man, but some of his best work was actually produced during his sojourn here, and the casual passer-by along Southtown road is now reminded that he lived there for eleven years. With the approval of the archaeologists and the owner of the house, a few admirers who desire to remain anonymous, have placed a tablet, admirably executed by a local firm, which declares so that he who runs may read, that "In this house John Sell Cotman, painter and etcher, lived from April, 1812, until December, 1823."
