    Dear Mr Kitson,
    Forgive my delay in answering about the Cotmans, as I was away for Easter, & have been rather busy since my return.
    All the Cotman's that were in my husband's possession were among some other drawings, prints &c; that had been collected by a Mr Angell, who lived in 16 Russell Square before my father-in-law went there (which was in 1860). Mr Angell was also an architect, & a great connoisseur and collector, & he left behind him a rather fine old oak cupboard, as a gift to my father-in-law who, however, never touched its contents, not being sure whether or no they were included in the gift.
    My father-in-law (F.W.Porter) died in 1901, &
